Abd Althaher Morad, also known as عبد الظاهر مراد, was a prominent Syrian artist and educator. He served as a teacher at the Center for Fine Arts since its inception and became its director from 1966 to 1970. In this role, he mentored young talents who later became significant figures in the Syrian art scene. Morad was instrumental in promoting direct painting from nature, fostering a vibrant artistic movement. His approach was characterized by a harmonious blend of dream and reality, transforming his visions into tangible art.

Morad's artistic talents spanned both painting and interior decoration. He had a profound appreciation for places, often depicting old walls, narrow alleys, ancient markets, and clustered villages. His works were not mere representations but conveyed the historical essence and vitality of these locales. Employing a palette knife and thick color paste, he developed a distinctive technique that became his signature style. Starting with dark or black backgrounds, he layered colors to create light and shadow, achieving a unique luminosity.
