Athr is a leading contemporary art gallery in Saudi Arabia, founded in Jeddah in 2009, with spaces in Jeddah, Riyadh and AlUla. It has been central to the rise of the Saudi and Gulf contemporary art scene.
Founded in 2009 by Mohammed Hafiz and Hamza Serafi, Athr is widely regarded as one of the most important galleries in the Gulf. From its base in Jeddah it helped launch the careers of a generation of Saudi contemporary artists and brought them to international fairs and biennials.
With additional spaces in Riyadh and AlUla, Athr sits at the centre of Saudi Arabia's fast-expanding cultural landscape, pairing a serious exhibition programme with publishing and curatorial projects.
