Sadiq Rabea, born in 1935, is a distinguished Iraqi sculptor renowned for his mastery in transforming materials such as clay, stone, iron, and wood into expressive, dynamic forms. His work is characterized by a deep engagement with the human condition, reflecting a profound understanding of both traditional and contemporary artistic expressions.

Rabea's artistic journey began in his childhood, crafting shapes from clay during his primary school years in Kadhimiya. Encouraged by his art teacher, he pursued formal education at the Institute of Fine Arts in Baghdad in 1956-57, where he studied under the esteemed sculptor Jawad Saleem. Recognizing Rabea's potential, Saleem guided him to specialize in sculpture, leading to further studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome. Throughout his career, Rabea has participated in numerous exhibitions and has been instrumental in executing various public monuments and murals, contributing significantly to Iraq's cultural landscape.

In addition to his artistic practice, Rabea has dedicated himself to education, serving as a sculpture instructor at both the Institute of Fine Arts and the Academy of Fine Arts in Baghdad. His commitment to nurturing the next generation of artists underscores his influential role in the Iraqi art scene.
