Omar Alfayoumi (عمر الفيومي) is a contemporary Egyptian artist recognized for his distinctive approach to painting and drawing, often exploring themes rooted in Egyptian heritage and daily life. Born in Cairo in 1952, Alfayoumi graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Helwan University, where he later became a faculty member. His work is characterized by expressive figuration, bold lines, and a palette that reflects the vibrancy of Egyptian culture. Alfayoumi’s compositions frequently depict human figures in contemplative or communal settings, rendered with a stylized, almost sculptural quality that draws on both modernist and traditional influences.

Alfayoumi has exhibited extensively in Egypt and internationally, with notable institutional exhibitions at the Cairo Opera House, the Palace of Arts in Cairo, and participation in the Alexandria Biennale. His works have also been featured in group shows at institutions such as the Institut du Monde Arabe in Paris. In the secondary market, Alfayoumi’s paintings have appeared at major auction houses including Sotheby’s and Christie’s, where they have attracted collectors interested in modern and contemporary Middle Eastern art. His contributions have established him as a significant figure in the Egyptian art scene, bridging classical motifs with contemporary expression.
