Monqeth Saed

Monqeth Saed, an Iraqi sculptor, was born in 1965 and passed away in 2008. He graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Damascus in 1983 and later earned a doctorate from the University of Amsterdam in 1995. Saed's work is characterized by meticulous studies of form and space, often exploring themes of human interaction with their environment. His sculptures frequently depict figures ascending stairs, columns, or arches, symbolizing a quest for elevation or transcendence. He was known for his innovative use of materials, including glass, to create dynamic and thought-provoking pieces.

Throughout his career, Saed participated in numerous exhibitions across various countries, including Canada, the United States, Lebanon, the United Arab Emirates, Russia, France, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany. Notably, in the 1990s, he won a prestigious international sculpture competition in the Netherlands, where his work was selected among entries from many Dutch and international artists. This achievement led to the installation of his sculpture in a public space in the Netherlands, marking a significant milestone in his career.

Saed's artistic journey was marked by a relentless pursuit of innovation and a deep commitment to his craft.
