Mohsen Atieh

Mohsen Atieh, also known as محسن عطية, is an Egyptian artist born in Cairo in 1947. He earned his doctorate in 1979 from the Repin Academy of Fine Arts in Russia. Atieh's work is characterized by abstract compositions that explore the interplay of color and form, often drawing inspiration from nature and music. His paintings are noted for their vibrant color palettes and dynamic structures, reflecting a deep engagement with the expressive potential of abstraction.

Throughout his career, Atieh has held numerous solo exhibitions, including shows at the Cairo Atelier in 1967 and 1972, and at the Extra Gallery in Zamalek from 2006 to 2010. His international presence includes representing Egypt at the Bangladesh Biennale in 2001, exhibitions in Russia in 2004, Hong Kong in 2005, and the Tashkent International Biennale in 2005. In 2003, he was awarded the Gold Medal for Creative Excellence by the Academy of Arts in Uzbekistan.

In addition to his artistic practice, Atieh is a prolific author, having published several books on art appreciation and criticism, such as "Tasting Art" (1995) and "The Interpretation of Art" (2007). His contributions to art education and criticism have solidified his reputation as a leading figure in Egypt's contemporary art scene.
