Howaida El-Sebaee, born on June 7, 1971, in Alexandria, Egypt, is a distinguished painter and academic. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Alexandria University in 1994, followed by a Master's in 2001 and a Ph.D. in 2004 from the same institution. El-Sebaee has been an integral part of the faculty at Alexandria University, progressing from assistant lecturer to assistant professor in the Painting Department.

El-Sebaee's artistic oeuvre spans painting, photography, video, performance, and audio art. Her work has been showcased in numerous exhibitions, including a solo exhibition at the Arts Academy in Rome in 2002 and "The Other Side" at the Nahdet Misr Gallery in the Mahmoud Mukhtar Museum in 2007. She has also participated in international exhibitions such as the 21st Alexandria International Biennale for Mediterranean Countries in 2001. In 2025, her work was featured in the group exhibition "NUN WA FNOUN 21" at Picasso Art Gallery in Egypt.

Throughout her career, El-Sebaee has received several accolades, including the Grand Prix at the 21st Alexandria International Biennale in 2001. Her works are part of the collections at the Egypt Modern Art Museum and the General Authority of Cultural Palaces. Beyond her artistic practice, she has contributed to the art community through workshops, translations, and publications, reflecting her commitment to the development and dissemination of contemporary art in Egypt and beyond.
