Ghaleb Almansoori

Ghaleb Almansoori, born in 1953 in the village of Al-Ka'buri, near Al-Qadisiyyah in Najaf, Iraq, is a distinguished Iraqi visual artist. He completed his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Baghdad in 1977–1978. Almansoori's artistic journey is marked by a profound engagement with his environment, often depicting elements like the desert, tents, and horses, reflecting his deep connection to Iraqi landscapes and cultural symbols. His work seamlessly blends realism with abstract elements, showcasing a mastery of color and form.

Throughout his career, Almansoori has held various significant positions, including serving as a painter in the decoration department of the Iraqi Radio and Television at the Ministry of Information in 1974, and later as a teacher at the Institute of Fine Arts in Baghdad in 1978. He participated in the World Youth Festival in Havana in 1976, representing Iraq as one of its most promising young artists. His exhibitions span both national and international venues, with notable showcases in Libya in 1998 and the United States in 2015. In 2003, he was appointed Director of Culture and Arts at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, a position he held until his retirement in 2010.

Almansoori's contributions to the art world have been recognized with several awards, including the Best Work Award in 1980 at the National Youth Cadres Exhibition organized by the Ministry of Youth. His works, characterized by their rich portrayal of Iraqi heritage and innovative artistic techniques, continue to inspire and resonate within the art community.
