Brian Fielding (1933–1987) was a British abstract painter associated with the post-war generation that gave British abstraction a new international profile. Born in Sheffield, he studied at Sheffield College of Art and the Royal College of Art, and was decisively influenced by the American Abstract Expressionism shown in London in the late 1950s. He exhibited at the Rowan Gallery in London, taught at several art schools including Ravensbourne College of Art and Design, and was given a retrospective at the Mappin Art Gallery, Sheffield, in 1986.
