Ahmad Al Bahrani

Ahmad Al Bahrani (أحمد البحراني), born in 1967 in Iraq, is a prominent contemporary sculptor known for his dynamic and monumental works in bronze and mixed media. Al Bahrani’s practice is deeply rooted in themes of identity, displacement, and collective memory, often reflecting on the socio-political realities of the Arab world. His sculptures are characterized by their expressive forms and powerful symbolism, frequently drawing on both ancient Mesopotamian motifs and modernist abstraction.

Al Bahrani has exhibited widely in major international institutions and biennials, including the Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art in Doha and the Institut du Monde Arabe in Paris. His works have been featured in significant group exhibitions such as the Venice Biennale and have been acquired by prominent public and private collections across the Middle East and beyond. Notably, Al Bahrani’s sculptures have achieved strong results at leading auction houses, with pieces offered at Christie’s and Sotheby’s in Dubai and London, underscoring his status as one of the most influential Iraqi artists of his generation.
